Lee Canyon opening to begin winter season

If you're looking to escape the city and enjoy the snow, Lee Canyon could be an option for you. The ski area is set to open starting Saturday.

Perhaps the first things visitors will see is the opening of the Hillside Lodge, Lee Canyon's new two-story, 10,000 square foot building. It will have indoor and outdoor spaces with sweeping views of Lee Canyon This includes an outdoor heated terrace, patio dining spaces, and a ski in ski out bar. Officials at Lee Canyon says this is the most significant development at the ski area since it opened in 1964.

Now if you're looking to do some skiing or snowboarding and live in the valley, Lee Canyon is offering the ride local pass which costs $79. It locks in $39 lift tickets for the entire season and gives two free weeks at the beginning and end of the season. Officials say they anticipate the season to last from now through March.

The ski area will have its ski lifts start at 9 a.m., and season passes available online .
