Construction begins on new entertainment, shopping complex in southwest valley
LAS VEGAS (KSNV) — Dapper Companies says that construction has begun on The Bend, a large retail, entertainment and food development in the southwest valley.
According to a company spokesperson, workers began grading the roughly 17 acres of land at Sunset Road and Durango Road in mid-January, though no official opening has been scheduled.
The complex, located across the street from Ikea, was initially scheduled to open at the end of 2019, but construction was unexpectedly delayed.
The design of the complex, developed by Las Vegas-based firm Bunnyfish Studio, isn’t expected to change from the original renderings.
The focal point, Galaxy Theaters, will still be opening at The Bend when it is finished.
Plus, this isn’t the only new development for the southwest valley.
A new corporate center called AXIOM officially broke ground on Friday, Feb 8, with an expected completion date around the fall of 2022.
Also, the UnCommons, a $400 million, 40-acre mixed-use development with entertainment, retail and office and apartment space, is scheduled to break ground in the spring of 2020.
